Retailers and Christmas plans

It's probably fair to say that many retailers don't have a great deal of time to read articles like this at the moment. Retail makes hay at Christmas. Don't forget the Christmas songs! So, I'll keep this short and to the point.

This blog post is all about making sure your Christmas next time around is even better than the one you are experiencing now. Making the most of this time of year as a retailer is all about planning. And what better way to plan, then to have a load of notes available from the previous year.

Get your notebook out!

Next year can be a great Christmas for your retail business, if you know where to get the most from the season. This includes -

  • The days you needed extra staffing
  • The lines that sold best
  • The events that boosted your sales
  • The promotions that you want to repeat
  • And those you don't!
And this is what retail is all about, But what is fresh in your mind today, might be a distant memory when you come to plan for this time next year. So make notes. I think the best way to do this is to carry a small notebook and pen with you wherever you go. But you might think that there are better ways.

But, whatever you do, make sure you have the right information to rely on in order to generate high sales and customer satisfaction at the most important time of the year. Maybe have a chat with others in your local area to see what they experienced. Sharing best practice isn't done often enough in retail.

I've taken up enough of your time. Get out there and make your money - but don't forget the positive impact you can have on this time next year!
